Hello Everyone! We’ve decided to open for Valentines day, February 14th, seatings at 5, 6 or 7pm. See you here! Also we are re-opening for the year on Thursday the 9th. I just got back from doing 2 dinners at the Stratford Chefs’ School, it was so much fun to see everyone again, the school is just as classy as I remember it (class of 1994-5).

Mulefoot Hogs

Just got some mule foot hogs from Lasqueti island, they are cute as buttons! Very rare, originally raised for the quality of their hams, they do not have a cloven hoof and are very furry. They are eating extremely well and are tilling a garden area behind the greenhouse presently.

On New Years Eve:
* 5:30 pm seating – 4 courses for $55
* 8:00 pm seating – 7 courses for $80

Autumn in the Cowichan Valley

Stone Soup Inn is located 5 minutes away from the Cowichan River Provincial Park. The trails around Skutz Falls are especially pretty in the autumn with changing colours of the trees. You can watch the Salmon jumping out of the water, trying to break their eggs while finding numerous interesting looking mushrooms in the forest.

Many thanks to John Schreiner for the great descriptions of the pairings, and as well to Dave Hart and Meena who performed on Saturday night and really wowed the crowd. Thanks to everyone involved, it was really a great night.

Stone Soup Inn is participating in the “Cowichan Chef’s Table”, James Barber fundraiser dinner in support of and at Providence Farm.

“On Thursday, September 15th, 6 – 9 p.m., Cowichan Chef’s Table and invited BC chefs are hosting a culinary showcase in honour of the late James Barber, Canada’s Urban Peasant. The event at Providence Farm will feature stations throughout the historic buildings offering culinary delicacies paired with local beer, wine and cider. They will also be officially launching the James Barber Wood Burning Oven project, the chefs gift to Providence Farm. Participating Chefs include: Bill Jones, Deerholme Farm; Fatima da Silva, Bistro 161; Brad Boisvert, Amusé Bistro; Brock Windsor, Stone Soup Inn; Paul Stewart, Harbour House Hotel; Jonathan Duquette, Rock Salt Cafe; Matt Horn, Cowichan Pasta Company; and, special guest Robert Clark, C Restaurant.Tickets: $100.”
